Add items

  1. On your SumUp profile, select the "Items" tab from the left-hand panel.

  2. Select "Add item" in the top right corner.

  3. Add item details, such as a name, pricing and tax rates. See below for more information.

  4. Click "Save" to save the item.

To edit or delete items later, simply open your item section again and select the item you want to change or remove.

Add items to your catalogue with a photo

Simply take a photo of your menu or price list using the “import items by image” feature, and let the AI handle the rest. Easily manage your item catalogue faster and more efficiently. 

Item finder with the barcode search

If you sell products with barcodes, you can speed up the process using the barcode search feature. The system will automatically populate certain fields (e.g., the item's image, name, ...), while others (e.g., the price and tax rate) will remain empty for you to complete.

  1. On your SumUp profile, select the "Items" tab from the left-hand panel.

  2. Click “Add item” in the top right corner. 

  3. Next, click the barcode icon next to "Name". 

  4. Click the "Search by barcode" and scan the barcode, or enter the name or the code manually.

  5. If the system can retrieve a product, select it. 

  6. Fill in the remaining fields and then click “Save”.

The item finder with the barcode search feature is exclusively available with POS Plus. To benefit from this functionality and many others, sign up por POS Plus.

Bulk add items

Save time by adding multiple items that share the same category and tax rate to your catalogue at once.

  1. Log in to your SumUp profile.

  2. Click on “Items” and “Library”.

  3. Click “Bulk add items”.

  4. Select a category from the “Category” dropdown.

  5. Choose the tax rate, if enabled.

  6. Enter the item name and price, then click “Add item”.

  7. When you’re done, click “Save and continue”.

Use a barcode scanner with POS Plus

Sign up for POS Plus to bulk add items by scanning their barcodes. The item name and image will be automatically populated for recognised items—you'll just need to add the prices manually.

Customise items

Organise your items by creating item categories to make it easier to find your items.

These categories will be used as filtering options when customers search for items on your Online Store.

Use the image symbol to add item images (maximum of 1500px by 1500px). Images must be in JPG or PNG format, or can be browsed and uploaded from Unsplash.

You can add up to seven images that will be visible as a gallery on your Online Store. The first image uploaded will be treated as the main image.

Use the item description section on the item editor to add an item description that will be visible on your Online Store and on SumUp Invoices.

Either create simple item variations, like different colours or sizes, or create multiple variations using combinations of variable options.

For example, if you sell a t-shirt in varying colours and sizes, simply enter all the possible colours and all the possible sizes. Then, we’ll combine them to create all the possible variations for sale, including SKU numbers to track stock.

Tax rates are preset to the rates in your registered home country, however, you can also apply custom tax rates of your own.

Manage your item’s stock levels by enabling the "Track inventory" toggle. You can also manually amend your item’s stock number and stock keeping unit (SKU).

Enable the "Online Store" toggle to start selling your item online with Online Store.

You can also add an item description that will be visible on your Online Store and on invoices. Add a meta title and meta description for your item on your SumUp profile to boost its visibility via SEO.
