Import item details
Log in to your SumUp profile using a web browser and select the "Items" tab from the left-hand panel.
Click "Import" in the top right corner of the screen.
Select "Download" then choose "Blank template" to download the import CSV template.
Fill out the import CSV template with your item details then upload it via the file uploader.
Click "Continue" to start the upload. There’s a 5MB upload limit per file.
You’ll be notified of any issues that are found so you can amend them in the CSV file and retry the import.
If you don’t have permission to perform this action, please reach out to the owner or administrator of the SumUp profile for support.
Fill out the import template
Item details can be added in the columns of the CSV file. Fields in bold are required. The CSV file is in English, but you can complete most fields in any language.
Item name - your item's name e.g. shirt
Variations - name and create simple item variants e.g. small, medium, large
Option set 1, 2, 3, 4 - name and create complex variant sets with multidimensional variants e.g. size, colour, material
Option 1, 2, 3, 4 - if creating multidimensional variants, enter the specific variant options. These will combine automatically to show the fully array of options e.g. (size) small, medium, large; (colour) red, blue, green; (material) cotton, corduroy, denim
Is variation visible (Yes/No) - for multidimensional variants created with option sets, show variants by typing "Yes" or hide them with "No"
Price - current item or variant price
On sale in Online Store? - type "Yes" for discounted price, "No" for regular price
Regular price (before sale) - original price before the discount so customers know their savings
Tax rate (%) - applicable tax for the item or variant
Set up different prices and VAT for takeaway - Type "Yes" to apply different prices and VAT for takeaway orders, or "No" to keep the same original prices
Take away price - price for takeaway orders
Takeaway tax rate - specify the applicable VAT rate when the item is ordered for takeaway
Unit - Unit of measure for the item followed by a dot and its unit, using the format as type.unit (e.g. weight.gram)
If you're using item variants, only enter the above information in the row corresponding to the variants and leave the item row blank.
Track inventory? - type "Yes" to enable inventory tracking, or "No" to disable it
Quantity - Enter the initial stock level (required when inventory tracking is enabled)
Low stock threshold - set the minimum quantity to trigger a low stock alert
SKU - enter the unique identifier for tracking
Barcode - add the item's barcode so it can be recognised by the POS system when scanned
If you're using item variants, only enter the above information in the row corresponding to the variants and leave the item row blank.
Modifiers - If you items come with optional extras, list these modifiers separated by commas (e.g., “Sauces", "Toppings”). The provided names must match the modifiers already in your item catalogue
Description - a description to be shown in the Online Store and Invoices
Category - the item category it belongs to
Display colour in POS checkout - colour code how items appear at checkout. Choose from the following options, writing the name in English as follows:
Image 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 - add up to 7 images URLs
If you're using item variants, only enter the above information in the row corresponding the variants and leave the item row blank
Display item in Online Store? (Yes/No) - type “Yes” to make the item available for purchase online, or “No” to hide it from the Online Store
SEO title (Online Store only) - enter a title that will appear in Google search results to improve your item’s visibility
SEO Description (Online Store only) - provide a description that will appear in Google search results to help attract more customers
Shipping weight [kg] (Online Store only) - specify the item’s weight in kilograms for accurate shipping calculations

Once you’ve made your edits, be sure to save the file in CSV format via Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
