How the SumUp KDS works

The SumUp KDS interface is organised into four main screens:

  • “To Do”: displays new orders from the POS not yet started or accepted by the kitchen staff.

  • "In Progress": orders move here after “Start Order” is tapped, indicating they are being prepared.

  • “Ready”: Completed orders appear here after the staff taps “Complete Order”.

  • "Rejected": displays orders manually declined by the kitchen staff.

How can I tell if an order is to takeaway or eat-in?

The SumUp KDS interface displays icons in the top-left corner of each order, indicating whether it's for eat-in (cutlery icon) or takeaway (bag icon).

The SumUp KDS settings

You can customise your KDS settings in the following sections of your device:

Manage Wi-Fi connection, mute or unmute notification sounds (the KDS plays a bell when a new order arrives), and change the device language.

Enable auto-accept for incoming orders and select which order categories appear on the KDS (e.g., show only food or drinks if they are separate).

Choose between “Standard” and “Compressed” ticket sizes for order display.

Securely log out from the KDS device.
